The Artist/Blogger/Writer.
With a strong sense of fantasy and a little whimsy, my illustrations and stories capture the essence of classic fairy tales, while maintaining sinister undertones not found in the whitewashed Disney adaptations. My style in my illustrations uses a high level of detail and pattern to create a visual seduction that contrasts with the sinister themes of the narratives they represent.
I reference a traditional late 19th century children’s book illustration style, the golden age of illustration, but with a more graphic style influenced by comic art, especially in my renderings of the human form.
I’m currently a sophomore illustration student at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
